After our trip a fortnight ago to the Welcombe Hills Monument and last weeks trip to Warwick Castle, we decided this week to take a walk up Broadway Hill, the 2nd highest point in the Cotswold, to see Broadway Tower.

It’s another of those places that I had fond memories of visiting as a kid, so was pleased that both of my two seemed to love it up there, this was helped by it beeing a lovely windy day (you can’t beat a lovely windy day when walking up the hills)
Not only was it windy but it looked as though a storm was heading our way, but fortunately far enough away not to bother us.
The tower was great, It stand 55ft tall and has is a mock castle with 3 turret like structures, 2 of the turrets have spiral staircases (one to go up and one to go down) one with 73 steps, the other with 71. It has 3 floors and is fitted out nicely inside.

Broadway Tower itself has a history of notable owners including; Capability Brown and William Morris and the 2nd floor has an interior stled around his work.
Both the kids seemed to love going up the steps, weren’t particularly interested in any information about the tower, but I dare say I wasn’t when I was their age. Neither has any fear of heights, so loved it on the top of the tower, where supposodly you can see 13 counties from!
Back down the steps, we had a chat with the really nice, friendly lady who was manning the tower and she told us a little more history.

After that it was back outside, the kids running around enjoying the wind, me taking some photos, then back to the car for Sandwiches.
