No More Self Editing of Business Directory Listings

If you have read my previous posts you will now I was now working on my business directory and had a self editing system that was getting abused by spammers and link droppers who initially set up genuine listing to get through my approval system but then editing after they had been approved to link drop.

With this in mind I decided to switch off all self editing.

No self editing caused a few problems, especially when genuine business owners wanted to edit their business listings so I set up a system where people could just send me the edits and I would do it for them.

Me doing the editing myself was fine most of the time but you always got the odd person who just expected you to do it and who showed absolutely no gratitude, you also got people wanting to make regular edits and people wanting to edit listings who appeared to have n connection with the listing they wanted editing.

It was quite a time consuming process and annoying when it was the frequent editors or the ones that showed no gratitude.

To help with this problem I included in my terms that editing was chargeable, I rarely actually charged anyone but by having it in my terms I could inform the annoying people about it 🙂

I then had the idea that editing was chargeable, but if they paid for an upgrade I would do the editing at the same time.

Approval System and No More Self Editing = Less Spammers and Junk Listings

My new systems helped cut down on the spammers and people adding junk listings and also gave me a bit of inspiration to go though old listings and have a bit of a tidy up.
